Dan Shine, currently the Senior Editor at Automotive News with Crain Communications since January 2020, brings a wealth of experience from his extensive career in journalism and education. Residing in the Greater Detroit Area, Dan has made significant contributions to the automotive industry through his insightful reporting and analysis. Additionally, he enriches the minds of future journalists as an Adjunct Professor of Journalism at the University of Michigan-Dearborn since May 2017, teaching the "Fundamentals of Journalism" course, and has been sharing his expertise in journalism as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Detroit Mercy since January 2007, currently teaching Mass Media Ethics.

Dan's commitment to education and journalism extends beyond the classroom. He served on the non-profit board of the Old Tiger Stadium Conservancy from April 2012 to January 2020, showcasing his dedication to preserving the rich history of Detroit. Before joining Automotive News, Dan held a pivotal role at the William Davidson Institute from March 2004 to January 2020, leading communications for a variety of global initiatives.
